WHAT TO EXPECT
Organization:
-
Youth will be organized into "family groups" of approximately 15 youth and 2 adult leaders. These groups will be co-ed and composed of youth of similar ages.
-
Multiple family groups will form larger "companies" of 40-50 youth.
-
We will travel to and around Nauvoo via luxury charter buses.
-
Activities will vary, including family group activities, company-wide events, and large group gatherings.
Activities:
-
We will immerse ourselves in the history of Nauvoo, including visits to Carthage Jail and Joseph and Emma Smith's home.
-
Opportunities for personal growth will include family history research and performing baptisms in the Nauvoo Temple.
-
We will participate in engaging activities such as the Trail of Hope walk, presentations by performing missionaries, wagon rides, and campfires.
-
These experiences will foster a deeper understanding of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and strengthen testimonies of Joseph Smith's prophetic calling, while honoring the sacrifices of early Saints.
Lodging and Meals:
-
We will stay in cabins at Camp Nauvoo, which offer electricity, air conditioning, and cots.
-
Central bathroom and shower facilities are available.
-
Youth will be assigned to cabins with same-gender peers, and adult leaders will be housed in nearby, separate cabins.
-
Our dedicated food committee will prepare meals in the camp's dining hall, accommodating dietary restrictions and allergies.
Medical and Mental Health Support:
-
A registered nurse will be stationed full-time at the Camp Nauvoo lodge.
-
Two additional medical professionals will participate in activities with the youth.
-
A mental health professional will be included in the adult staff.
